My favorite part about Thanksgiving is getting to see my grandma. She lives in Virginia and she makes the best food I have ever had in my entire life. We usually go up there to visit or she goes to South Carolina where the rest of my family is and we meet her there. This year that is what we’ll be doing. We are leaving Wednesday and coming home Sunday. I haven’t seen her in like three years and so this year is going to be fun. Not only do I like the money that she brings I love visiting with her and the rest of my family and eating wonderful food. =)

For paper #2 my thesis is: Banning books can be both detrimental and beneficial. ( I just made this up because I didn’t even have a thesis in this paper haha) I will probably change it.

For paper #3 my thesis is: I adamantly believe that life begins at conception, therefore, abortion is unethical and immoral.

I rarely ever get stressed. I absolutely hate it…and that’s why i don’t do it.  My philosophy is this…why waste the time complaining and whining about all you have to do? If you spent that time actually doing the things that you have to get done…you would actually get it done.  For alot of people this is easier said than done, but for me it’s no big deal. I guess i’m just a very laid back person, but not too much that I fall short on things I have to get done.

If I could be any superhero I would be Superwoman. I like Superman most out of all the superheros because he can do anything. He doesn’t have just one strength about him, he can do it all. I would like to be able to see everything, hear everything, have super strength, be able to see through things, and most importantly fly. I would do exactly what Superman does with his powers. I would save people in need and be a hero =)

When Mrs. Shattuck told us about the third paper topic, I became really worried. What am I passionate about? I mean I am passionate about some things but none that could be put into a college paper. So these past two days I have been racking my brain on something that I am passionate about or even something significant that has happened in my life. So yesterday I was on my way home from Decatur and I saw a bumper sticker that simply said “pro life”. It hit me all at once!!! I am passionate about pro life! I haven’t done any research on it yet via the internet, but I know alot about it already. I am all for pro life and am really excited about this one. =)

I had heard the words comma splice before but never actually knew what it was. I found out what it was and I probably have done exactly what they say not to do many times. I also learned if something is essential to the sentence and can’t be taken out without losing important information in the sentence, it should not be set off by commas.

I remember coming to orientation this summer and the head police guy informing us that parking decals have gone up from $30 to $120!!! I didn’t think anything else about it because I mean I’m not the one having to pay for it. The first day of class, I have chemistry, this class, music appreciation, and sociology. I didn’t have a problem parking at the chemistry building but then I have to come to this class and the last two. I was extremely late because I could not find a parking space! So…I just followed the crowd and parked on the curb. After a stressful first day and having to get financial things situated I come to my car relieved I was getting to come home. As I approach, I see this wonderful piece of paper fluttering on my windshield. I then notice that there isn’t just one on my car but also on all the other cars parked on the curb. It ended up being just a warning but I was still ticked off!!! At this point in time, I was going to march myself to the police station thingy and tell them a piece of my mind. I mean they expect you to pay $120 for a parking decal but there isn’t enough parking!!! What kind of crap is that! I ended up just leaving and coming home and even though the parking isn’t as bad as it was that first day, and I can actually find a parking space, it is still ridiculous.

I didn’t really know what to do with this assignment. I did look at blogs where people talked about not knowing how to tell if a blog was a valid source or not. Most of them had the same opinion I do in that there is no way to tell what is false and truth so blogs should not be a source that people go to or even journalists research.

I commented on Emma’s Blog, Faithful616′s Blog, and Acb0007′s Blog.

I pretty much just picked statements that I agreed with. They all summarized that blogging is great but I do not believe that they are valid sources. I agreed with Faithful616 when she said that she doesn’ t believe journalism will be a valued source in ten years because blogging and technology is becoming more and more popular. This worries me in a way because when it comes to blogs, how are you supposed to know if it is valid and true? There is no way and if technology progresses the way it is now, I believe that the world of news is going to be a big mess of gossip, lies, and a little bit of truth.

I agree with Partsch that there should be a distinct line between editorials and blogs. An editorial should be bringing facts and arguments out there and a blog should be one’s opinion on the situation. I disagree with Partsch when he says there is a line. I believe that there are editorial writers who have it right and don’t add in there opinion but i think there is starting to be more editorial writers being biased and one-sided.
